6 non-prescription products that I LOVE that wont break the bank!

Salicylic Acid 2% This is great for oily skin, “blocked” pores and decreasing sebum production. It also has anti-inflammatory properties. Avoid around the delicate eye area, skin creases and the mouth. It can be quite drying and irritating so start by only using it once or twice a week. You must wear an SPF on top as it can make you significantly more vulnerable to sun damage. It works by increasing skin cell turnover so you may experience more peeling & shedding. I buy mine online from Beauty Bay

La Roche-Posay ANTHELIOS XL Anti-shine 50+ SPF

This is provides excellent high SPF facial protection for combination and oily skin. It has anti-shine action, immediate absorption, an ultra-dry finish, no white marks and is also water resistant. It contains an anti-sweat molecule Airlicium which can absorb up to 100x its weight in water. It shouldn't aggravate acne or any skin conditions. For the best results its recommended you apply multiple times throughout the day, particularly after excessive sweating, swimming or wiping forehead etc. I get mine from Amazon.

Benzoyl Peroxide 5% wash Destroys microbes & decreases germ numbers. Very good for acne. Wet face & use pea sized amount to rub over the whole face or areas affected by acne (avoid eyes, nose corners & mouth). Leave on for 2 minutes then rinse off. Please be careful as this product can bleach hair & fabrics. You can buy this from any chemist in store or online.

La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 This is the face moisturiser I searched my entire life for. I've tried so many and they were greasy and caused spots! This formula contains no fragrance or parabens & is non-comedogenic. It's antibacterial action also helps protect broken skin from infection. You can buy this is most chemists or cosmetic stores. I purchase mine from Amazon.

Rohto Hadalabo Gokujun Facial Cleansing Oil

Great for dissolving makeup & sunscreen, which is how I use it before washing with a gentle liquid cleanser. Just the right amount of surfactant in it, so when you’ve finished massaging it in, splash your face with water & it goes slightly soapy & washed off easily. Doesn’t sting eyes & less need for cotton pads/wipes. I buy mine off of Amazon.

Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%

This improves the overall complexion by brightening dark marks from skin damage. It helps post-inflammatory pigmentation associated with scarring, acne and sun damage. It is also an effective antimicrobial which helps acne. It has anti-inflammatory properties and can be used for Rosacea. It works by increasing skin cell turnover so you may experience more peeling and shedding. Please bear in mind that its almost pointless using this whilst not also applying sunscreen as the sun continually encourages you to produce more melanin! This is another product I buy from Beauty Bay.

Please be advised that Perfect Symmetry nor myself (Sarah) are sponsored by any of these products or companies. We just really love these products!
